When somebody calls you and asks if your kid can join their family on a trip to the beach and says all they’ll need is spending money, how much do you think is sufficient? Does that mean “We’ll cover their eating, they just need to bring some spending money for souvenirs?”
One of the kids has been asked to go to Navarre Beach, FL and they said they just needed spending money. They asked them how much and they said “A couple hundred dollars.” Say what?

yowzah. if that were the case then one of my kids wouldn’t be going to Navarre Beach.
Whatever happened to a phone call to YOU first? That has always been one of my hard and fast rules, just ask me first before you get my kid all hyped up.

Cause you’re a smart, experienced mammy. Usually that’s how it happens here. In fact, I told her just the other night that there will be no more asking in front of people to do stuff.

My parents got this wrong a couple of times, and I went a few places with a lot less money than I was supposed to have. They thought “spending money” meant “$20 for souveniers” when the other folks meant “$150 for meals, park tickets…everything short of the hotel stay.”
