I like winter. I really, really do. When the newspeople are all “Oh yay it’s going to be 70 degrees today, isn’t that great?” in January….I don’t feel the same glee. I dig me some cold weather.
Maybe I should have been born in Michigan or something.

Sista, as far as I can see, winter in Michigan has changed a lot. I remember cold, near or below freezing which lasted from December to February. I remember snow, starting before my birthday in early November, and covering the ground until the end of March, and sometimes April. I remember snow deep enough that my brother got off a path going across a vacant lot and went in to his waist, and finally pulled his leg out without a boot, shoe and sock. Boy was Mom mad when he arrived home with a bare foot. She had to go out and find it and reach arm-pit deep to pull the boot and shoe out of the snow. This year, even in my former stomping grounds in northern Michigan, there have been many days above freezing, and shudder (rain) during the winter. Here in the comparative warmth of southeastern lower Michigan, it’s been downright balmy many days. Right now the ground is bare, and last week it rained cats and dogs. I guess if it’s warmer here, it’s warmer there.

I was born in Massachusetts & lived in New Hampshire as well. I had the luck of experiencing spectacular winters for the first 15 years of my life. This leads me to the following statement: “I hate winter and cold weather.” I appreciate living in the south and this thing Al invented called Global Warming. Cold hurts but hot just makes me sweat…that could be a t-shirt, I think.

We used to get good snows here when I was a kid but Al’s GW messed them all up.

You’re not alone. I wouldn’t mind living up near Buffalo where it seems to snow for three straight months. Or Alaska.

I agree with you. Seventy degree weather in January makes me sad (it’s kinda a reverse S.A.D.) But I try not to complain because I chose to live here. Still, weeks like the one we’re having now with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s suit me just fine!
